Begin your journey into the world of wine with the WSET Level 1 Award in Wines. This introductory 2-day course will introduce the basics of wine and how to best enjoy it. Expand your knowledge of grapes, and learn the technical aspects any professional working with wine should know. Broaden your palette through a tasting experience designed to teach you how to identify, taste, and describe all types of wine. Safely serve and store your wine properly to preserve its flavors and body. Understand the human and environmental safety issues

What You Will Learn

Wine types and styles
Common grapes and their characteristics
How to taste and describe wines through the WSET Level 1 Systematic Approach to Tasting Wine® (SAT)
Basic principles of wine and food pairing
How to serve and store wine
The basic safety issues and precautions when consuming wine

At The End Of The Course

You will:

have basic technical product knowledge of wine (types, styles, style factors, characteristics, descriptors)
accurately describe the different tasting notes of a variety of wines
know how to serve and store your wines at home or in a professional environment
be able to pair wines and food for any occasion
receive a WSET Certificate and Level 1 lapel pin upon passing the written exam

This course is open to anyone, but only those aged 18 and above will be allowed to participate in the tasting activity. Similarly, those who choose not to consume alcohol for health, religious, or other reasons will not find this to be a barrier to certification.
