The TESDA Women’s Center was formerly known as the National Vocational Training and Development Center for Women (NVTDCW). It was established as a Grant Aid from the Government of Japan with the initiative of Sen. Leticia Ramos-Shahani.

It was established in 1998, to address gender issues such as:
  • Limited opportunities and access of women to technical education and
  • training especially in industrial courses traditionally dominated by men;
  • Gender bias in employment;
  • Perceived role of women as secondary wage earners;
  • Discrimination in wages;
  • Protection and limited access to employment; and
  • Occupational and employment mobility

The TESDA Women’s Center (TWC) is one of the TESDA Technical Vocational Institutions (TVIs) and the only dedicated Skills Training Center for Women in the Philippines. It is also an internationally accredited TESDA Institution by the Asia Pacific Accreditation and Certification Commission with Gold level status. In addition, it is also an Approved Centre by the UK-based Institute of Motor Industry.
