Course Description:
This is an eight-hour program that will provide the participants with relevant Guidelines for cardiopulmonary resuscitation and emergency cardiovascular care of the newborn in accordance with the international World Health Organization (WHO), American Association of Pediatrics (AAP), American Heart Association (AHA)) and local (Department Of Health) Guidelines. The program is accredited by the Professional Regulation Commission – Board of Nursing for 8 credit units.

Methodology:
Lecture Discussion; Video; Integrated skill test (demonstration); simulated resuscitation
Scenarios; written examination (Pre, integrated skill tests and Post Test)

- Principles of Resuscitation
- Assessment of Newborn Needing Resuscitation and Application of Initial Steps in Resuscitation
- Use of Resuscitation Devices during positive-pressure ventilation
- Chest Compression in the Newborn
- Assisting during Intubation (ET and LMA)
- Safe Medication Administration during Newborn Resuscitation
- Special Situations that Complicates Resuscitation
- Resuscitation of Pre-term Babies
- Ethics and End-of-Life Care
