Greetings, facial features, family members, functions of five senses, school supplies, fruits and vegetables, beverages.
Grammar
pronouns, negative sentences, sentences of “has/have” and “be”, Chinese Phonetic Alphabets (Hanyu Pinyin), pronunciation, pronouns, special question words “what”.
Learning outcomes
At the end of this level you will be able to:
- introduce yourself
- greet other people
- introduce family members
- can read Chinese character through spell of Pinyin
- know facial features and their functions
- know common fruits and vegetables
- ask someone they like to drink what kind of beverages
- give positive and negative answer to a question
Level 2
Topics
Three meals: breakfast, lunch and dinner, snacks, fast foods, dishes, numbers and money, heavenly bodies, common animals, and clothing.
Grammar
Strokes, stroke order, character structures, Pictogram &Hieroglyphic writing, character components and radical words, use of Chinese dictionary, introduction of measure words, degree of adjectives, and simple question sentence of “ma吗？” .
Learning outcomes
At the end of this level you will be able to:
- talk about the three meals and foods
- talk about fast food and snacks
- count basic numbers and recognize Chinese money bills
- know common animals and pets
- understand Chinese character strokes and stroke order
- a little touch of Pictogram &Hieroglyphic writing
- understand character components and radical words
- learn to use dictionary
- ask about someone else’s health, study, work, feelings etc.
- use degree adverbs to modify adjectives

Dash Cultural and Educational Institute (Dash CEI) is the only language school in the Philippines that specializes in teaching Chinese. The school was founded at the end of 2008 by the teachers of the overseas Chinese, Engr. Sofia Li Chua and Loung Ming Chen. Teacher Sofia has been engaged in education for decades. From the Chinese primary school teacher to the academic director, from the Chinese guest teacher of the university to the Chinese course counselor to the principal of Dash CEI, she has devoted herself to education. Teacher Loung has served as a kindergarten, primary school teacher, kindergarten Chinese director and primary school Chinese director. In the academic work, she actively promoted teaching reform and promoted second language teaching. They do their best for the Chinese education in the Philippines.
Based on decades of teaching experience and experimentation, the team of Dash CEI has independently developed a Chinese-language course suitable for non-Chinese speaking students. The comprehensive teaching effect is very significant; especially for Filipinos and Filipino Chinese. The school currently has nearly 300 students, aged from one and a half to seventy-two years old. Adult students come from all professions. In the past ten years, school graduates have achieved good results in various fields of society by using the acquired Chinese language skills.
