Objective: Let the students appreciate and have the taste of language (Mandarin) and culture of China. In this course students will be able to express themselves in Mandarin in oral and written form in basic level. This course will also focus on Mandarin
phonetics and its four intonations. After having the mastery, the students will be able to read and write Mandarin and can converse to their classmates and students even to the instructor. Topics that will be discussed in two modules and each module will cover
10 hours these modules will be sufficient enough for the students to have a good grasp of susrvival Mandarin.
Outline
Module I
1. Introduction of Mandarin as a national language of China.
2. Introducing yourself in Mandarin.
3. Everyday greetings.
4. Introducing your family members.
5. Usage of pronouns and possessive pronouns.
6. Names of different countries and telling your nationality.
7. Telling colors and shapes.
Module II
1. Counting from 1-10,000
2. Telling time and dates
3. Construction of basic sentences.
