DRAWING 2.0
Skills-based learning is one of the most effective methods for teaching not only skills in drawing but also in the analysis of artworks.
Students will learn to recognize the natural world in abstracted form and will be able to break down the pictorial field in abstracted lines, textures, shapes, and values. We at the Atelier believe that honing the student’s visual perception increases
his or her visual intelligence regardless of age.
In this course, students will learn a more disciplined drawing process and cultivate a workflow aligned with the atelier approach. The student will learn the ways lines express ideas and be more attuned to planar forms and tones. The student will be able to
distinguish the elements of art, learn to identify and correct drawing errors, find accurate angles, and combine lines to form mass.

ALFRED GALVEZ
Alfred Galvez (b. 1973) was born in Davao City. He is an alumnus of the Philippine High School for the Arts. At 17, he became an apprentice of Mariano Madarang from the Philippine Women’s University. He trained in restoring and
conserving the paintings of Filipino masters like Felix Resurreccion Hidalgo, Juan Luna, Fernando Amorsolo, and Carlos Francisco. He studied at the University of the Philippines College of Fine Arts and the Philippine School of Interior Design.
To hone his artistry as a muralist, Galvez sojourned at the Bottega de Arte, Florence, Italy. After many decades of experience, Galvez founded MIKRA Faux, Inc., a group of artists specializing in Fine Art murals. The mural project for the Ateneo de Davao Chapel
of Christ the King that features the splendor of Mindanao heritage is just one of the exemplary projects he led. For “Makati, A City Built by People” at the M1 Building in Makati, Galvez and his team studied the social rhythms of the city, the surge and dissipation
of crowds, and the city’s sensorium.
Galvez’s artistic practice ranges from portraits to murals and faux finishes. Galvez is also known for his Filipinoiserie series, where he uses local scenes and leitmotifs to honor Filipino heritage, often reinventing and animating Philippine folklore.

of the abstract - space, form, color - as influenced by the early 20th century Bauhaus and De Stijl movements.
Her most recent significant group exhibitions include the following: Borderless Space Jogja Art Festival (2022) in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, under LAV Gallery; All Things Bright & Beautiful, All Creatures Great & Small (2022) in Hong Kong under Yidi Art Gallery;
