Course Description:

This Basic Food Safety for Food Handlers training is designed to provide food service workers, school canteen personnel, and other food handlers with essential knowledge and practices to ensure food safety and hygiene in compliance with Philippine regulatory requirements. The course covers fundamental principles of food safety, proper food handling, sanitation, and hazard control to prevent foodborne illnesses.

This course aligns with the following regulations and standards:

  • DepEd Order No. 8, s. 2007 

  • Republic Act No. 10611 (Food Safety Act of 2013)

  • Presidential Decree No. 856 (Sanitation Code of the Philippines)

  • DOH-FDA Administrative Order No. 0017 s. 2020 (Updated Guidelines on the Licensing of Food Establishments)

  • Local Government Unit (LGU) Requirements for food handler certification

  3. Personal Hygiene for Food Handlers

    • Proper handwashing techniques

    • Use of protective gear (hairnets, gloves, aprons)

    • Health and hygiene policies

  4. Safe Food Handling Practices

    • Proper food storage (FIFO, temperature control)

    • Cooking, cooling, and reheating guidelines

    • Serving and display safety

  5. Sanitation and Pest Control

    • Cleaning and sanitizing food contact surfaces

    • Waste disposal and pest management

  6. Compliance with Philippine Food Safety Laws

    • Food Safety Act of 2013 (RA 10611)

    • Sanitation Code (PD 856)

Certification:
