Outline
Chemical safety refers to the measures and precautions taken to prevent injuries and accidents involving chemicals. This can include things like properly labeling and storing chemicals, using personal protective equipment (PPE) when handling chemicals, and
providing employees with training on the safe handling and use of chemicals.
Chemical safety also includes conducting hazard assessments to identify potential risks associated with the chemicals being used, and implementing appropriate controls to mitigate those risks. Employers are also required to comply with local and national regulations
regarding the use and handling of chemicals, such as the OSH Standards of the Philippines.
It also includes understanding the properties and hazards of the chemicals, knowing how to handle and store them properly, how to respond to spills and emergencies, and how to properly dispose of them. Additionally, it includes keeping accurate records of the
chemicals in the workplace, providing employees with regular training, and providing the necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) for working with chemicals.
