UK – Philippines: Opportunities for Business Growth Collaboration
Details
The British Chamber of Commerce Philippines in partnership with the Institute of Directors Central London invites all their members, their guests and non-members to the International Trade Special Interest Group Event on trade opportunities in the Philippines.
The Philippines has a population of 109 million people with a median age of under 30 and a pre-covid annual economic growth of over 6%. It offers many export opportunities, and in the year up until March 2019 UK exports to the Philippines amounted to £731 million (ONS, 2019). There is a strong consumer market, and luxury items, real estate and service consumption is growing annually. Western goods and services continue to be popular in the Philippines.
The UK was in the top 10 foreign investors in the Philippines from 2015-2018 (Philippines Statistic Authority, 2019). UK business, telecoms and financial services have a strong presence and are well recognised, whilst electrical, machinery and pharmaceutical goods (amongst a wide range of others) are the most popular goods.
The Philippines is spreading government and economic activity right across its provinces to become less reliant on its capital city. Infrastructure and transport are being improved, locations to base a business are varied, industries are diverse, and growth outside of the city is encouraged.
Gain key insights on how to grow your business in the Philippines in this networking and discussion event exploring Philippines-UK trade opportunities held in partners.
